2026 Election Campaign Platform

According to his campaign website, Strickland’s platform focuses on several key areas:

  • Crime & Public Safety: Strickland supports law enforcement and has passed laws to punish violent criminals. He aims to hold District Attorneys accountable when they refuse to do their job.
  • Public Corruption: He pledges to use the Attorney General’s office to investigate corruption at every level, ensuring honesty and accountability from public officials.
  • Secure Elections: Strickland intends to enforce Georgia’s election laws to ensure every legal vote counts and illegal ones do not.
  • Illegal Immigration: He plans to work with sheriffs and federal agents to prosecute those who break Georgia law, opposing sanctuary policies and special treatment.
  • Second Amendment: Strickland is committed to protecting the right to self-defense and preventing federal agencies from infringing on the rights of law-abiding gun owners.
  • Parental Rights: He believes decisions about children’s education should be made by parents, not federal authorities, and has defended this right in the legislature.

Campaign Finances and Fundraising

Strickland enters the race with a substantial financial advantage, possessing $223,735 in his state Senate campaign account from the 2024 election cycle. While specific fundraising events have not been announced, this existing war chest positions him strongly as he transitions into the attorney general race.

Educational and Professional Background

Born on October 26, 1983, in Henry County, Georgia, Strickland graduated from Henry County High School in 2002. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics from Valdosta State University in 2006 and a Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2009. Professionally, he practices law at the firm Smith, Welch, Webb & White in McDonough.

Family and Personal Life

Strickland is married to Lindsay Perdue Strickland, and together they have two young sons. He is a lifelong resident of McDonough and a direct descendant of one of Henry County’s original founders, highlighting his deep roots in the community.

Legislative Record and Cobb County Connections

Strickland has served in the Georgia State Senate since 2018, representing District 42, which includes parts of Henry, Newton, and Walton counties, and all of Morgan County. He previously served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2013 to 2017.

As Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Strickland has been instrumental in shaping legislation on criminal justice reform and mental health care. In the 2024 legislative session, he co-sponsored Senate Bill 390, aiming to withhold government funding from libraries affiliated with the American Library Association. He also introduced legislation to streamline jail-based competency tests, determining if individuals are legally able to stand trial.

While his Senate District does not encompass Cobb County, his legislative initiatives on criminal justice and mental health have statewide implications, potentially affecting residents in Cobb County.

State Senator Brian Strickland (R–McDonough), a candidate for Georgia Attorney General in the 2026 election, has demonstrated support for former President Donald Trump through legislative actions.

In 2025, Strickland introduced Senate Resolution 14, titled “A RESOLUTION commending Donald J. Trump; and for other purposes.” This resolution publicly acknowledges and praises Trump’s contributions. The resolution is currently in committee.

Additionally, in 2020, Strickland attended an event featuring Eric Trump, indicating his engagement with the Trump family and their political activities.

While Strickland has not made a public endorsement of Trump, these actions suggest an alignment with Trump’s political influence and policies.
