At a press conference held at the Cobb County School District office, over 40 parents, students, and community members came together to support the School Board’s decision to remove what they described as “pornographic” books from school libraries.
Organized by local leaders like Pastor Francisco Vega, the event emphasized the community’s commitment to protecting children from inappropriate content. “We will not be silent,” said Arielle Kurtz, highlighting that the majority of Cobb parents stand behind the Board’s actions.
Speakers condemned Board member Mr. Hutchins and candidate Andrew Cole for opposing the immediate removal of certain books. They argued that promoting these books equates to supporting the exposure of minors to explicit material. The group encouraged residents to review the content in question at www.booksinschools.com. The site appears to list books specifically removed from the Cobb School District libraries. (Readers should be warned; there are some graphic materials embedded in the pages of the books listed.)
“There are thousands of us across the county,” Kurtz added, “and we won’t be silent anymore.”
