Last night was the second presidential debate for Donald Trump but the first for Kamala Harris in this election cycle. However, the real stars of the show were ABC’s moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis for their outstandingly horrendous handling of a presidential debate.
Conservatives were fully aware that Donald Trump walking onto an ABC debate stage was like walking behind enemy lines, however I think after the CNN debate with Biden, where the moderators did a relatively good job at being neutral, Trump voters were hopeful that the trend of a fair debate would continue – it did not.
I would like to give props to Kamala for her preparedness for the debate, despite nearly every word that came out of her mouth being a bald-faced lie; she did quite well – especially when the ABC moderators flat out refused to fact check her. But man, those pearl earrings she was wearing sure looked nice.
Like most debates, outside of June 27, with Biden, this will not change anyone’s mind who had already decided who to vote for. Anecdotally, I don’t know any undecideds who actually sat down to watch it – which says a lot about the political awareness of our nation, or lack thereof.
Plain and simple, Kamala’s strategy was to irritate Trump, attack him relentlessly with lies and then play the victim. And it worked.
I am going to say the thing that no one wants to address: it’s hard to be a man in politics running against a woman. There is a clear double standard in politics where women hit below the belt and when a man returns fire he is called a bully or a misogynist. Women have an unfair advantage because we can cry foul if we think someone’s response to our attacks goes too far.
Having run against Biden up until 50 plus days ago, Donald Trump is not interested in whether Kamala is a man or woman and he treats her equally as he did the last presidential candidate. Honestly, it’s a form of respect that Trump treats women the exact same way he does men because it shows that you are in fact equal in his eyes – even if he doesn’t like you.
But Kamala came out with one plan – take control of the narrative, deflect her shortcomings and get Trump upset. She did all of this through lies and the Federalist marked a minimum of 25 lies that Harris told last night.
The lie that irritated me the most was the constant barrage of “Trump is going to install Project 2025” and ABC moderators refused to fact check Kamala on this when Trump has said many times that he is not associated with the plan. But these constant accusations and lies are what threw Trump into defense mode, as is typical for lefties to do to conservatives, and forced him to adjust to ensure he was debunking the lies since ABC’s moderators flat out refused to do it.
Last night Donald Trump was in a street fight between three people, and he still managed to collect himself from time to time and get out policy, go after Kamala’s record and speak directly to the disaster American’s are currently living in with inflation.
Would I have liked to see a fair fight last night? Absolutely! Do I believe Trump should debate Kamala again? Yes! Fact of the matter is, last night proves that ABC is the worst network on the face of the planet and while Kamala came out prepared with her plan of attack, she really didn’t say much.
From a policy standpoint, Kamala said very little other than her promises to build some fictitious “opportunity” based economy and she never actually refuted Trump’s claim that she was a Marxist.
What makes me sad as I fall deeper into the rabbit hole that is American politics, is that people vote based on emotion and not on fact or logic. Sure, emotions are necessary but when it comes to policy and track record, Trump wins hands down.
