DEAR EDITOR:
It seems some are looking to introduce extreme ideological change into our School Board race in East Cobb. Democrat Laura Judge is one. She was trained to run for office by the “Working Family Party,” which Bernie Sanders exclaims is “the closest thing we have to Socialism in our country!”
“Voices of Muslims” (VOM), a group receiving funding from the Council on American IslamicRelations (CAIR), endorsed her. Search CAIR in Wikipedia by the multiple mentions of “Hamas”and “The Muslim Brotherhood.” There is a large Jewish constituency in East Cobb. Many parents approached her about this problematic endorsement. So, she simply deleted it off her website. However, it’s still displayed on the VOM website. She never renounced it, just hid it. Follow up questions to her Facebook page were deleted.
Ms. Judge also campaigns under the label “Pro-Choice Candidate.” When some people questioned what abortion has to do with the School Board, her answer was rambling and off-topic. “As a woman and representing others that may need access to menstrual health products, or education, that is why an organization like ‘Vote Pro-Choice’ has endorsed me.” She was asked no fewer than 132 times on Facebook to clarify. Pro-choice is clearly about abortion, but she refused all further clarification. This is the height of hypocrisy given her stated commitment to “community engagement.” Does she understand that abortion doesn’t fall under the School Board purview? Does she really wish to be a School Board representative or is she using this just to jump to higher office?
She claims to be an alumna of the U.S. Naval Academy. However, she attended only briefly. Further, her claims to be a Navy veteran seem based on those few months. I don’t know for certain, she refuses to answer this question as well.
If you feel that your “menstruating child” isn’t getting proper access to tampons, then you should vote for this Democrat. However, I feel that she obfuscates, misleads and answers with pat talking points, crafted at a socialist boot-camp. Ironically, her campaign slogan is “Building A Successful Community Through Transparency.”
My children are in college and grad school, but my home value has doubled in the last decade, so I have a vested interest in leaving our highest performing schools alone and just tweaking towards perfection. The Cobb schools have a reputation of excellence for a reason.
Are Democrats proud of this candidate?
